Technology

A forestry residue becomes a durable removal

Recarbono runs the full removal lifecycle in one accountable chain, from the hillside to the registry. Here it is plainly first, then in full technical detail.

New to biochar?

Start with the material itself: what it is, the 2,000-year evidence, and why the carbon doesn't come back.

What is biochar?

CarbonVision

The evidence, not the adjective

Most carbon software shows you a glowing network. Here is what ours actually does, and why the integrity of a removal is decided at the moment the data is captured, not at the moment it is audited.

Built for the EU's framework: the evidence assembles to the CRCF methodology (Delegated Regulation 2026/285), not just the voluntary standards most platforms retrofit.

And when production starts, the batch register goes public: every batch browsable from weighbridge ticket to registry serial. The demonstration batch below is the format.

Independent by structure, not by adjective

Third parties judge

Verification authority sits outside the family: the registries' auditors and verification bodies rule on the evidence. CarbonVision never certifies its builder's tonnes.

Governed separately

Platform governance is separated from production, and the records are append-only. Auditors read the same trail we do, on demand.

No volume incentive

CarbonVision's revenue is not a function of Recarbono's credit volumes. The platform earns nothing extra from a bigger claim.

Built by operators, to open to others

It runs on our own reactors first, dogfooding rather than demoware, and is planned to open to other developers.

· Records are append-only: corrections are new entries, never edits

· Retention ≥ 5 years post-crediting (superset of Puro's 2-year and Isometric's 5-year rules)

· Auditors get read access to the raw trail on request, not curated exports

Standards mapping

What each standard requires, and how we capture it

Written for the person your buyer forwards this page to. Standards we build to, not certifications we hold; certification follows the first production tonnes.

The measured loop

Every stage, instrumented

01. Locate

AI biomass mapping

The chain of proof starts before the reactor. Drone survey, satellite imagery and AI models locate fire-risk residue and quantify it (volume, type, seasonality, accessibility), so feedstock is measured before a single tonne is collected. You cannot prove a counterfactual you never surveyed.

02. Production

Pyrolysis

Fire-risk biomass heated without oxygen at 450–700 °C. It doesn't burn; the carbon locks into a stable solid.

03. Sensing

IoT

Reactor sensors stream temperature, mass and moisture to a tamper-evident data lake.

04. Analysis

Accredited labs

Every batch will be sampled and analysed by accredited partner laboratories: the physical ground truth, flowing straight into our digital infrastructure.

05. dMRV & Credits

CarbonVision

Sensor streams reconciled against lab analysis into a conservative net removal, issued to registry, traceable from feedstock to retirement.

The journey of a tonne

From a forestry residue to a durable removal

01 · Capture

Fire-risk biomass becomes biochar

Forestry and agricultural residue (biomass that would otherwise burn) is converted by pyrolysis into stable, carbon-rich biochar.

02 · Measure

Permanence weighed in an accredited laboratory

Every batch will be sampled and analysed by our accredited laboratory partners. Durability is assessed from laboratory analysis of the material itself, under the applicable methodology.

03 · Verify

Lab data flows straight into CarbonVision

No PDFs re-typed by hand. The CRCF-native platform assembles the audit trail and prepares the registry submission automatically.

04 · Lock

A durable, registry-issued removal credit

The result is a durable CO₂ removal credit: EBC-grounded, serialised, and issued on a public registry, traceable from feedstock to retirement.

Why it earns trust

When sensor and lab disagree, we round down

Conservative accounting costs a little headline volume and buys something far more valuable: credits an auditor can stand behind. Every figure is traceable to its raw record.

The infrastructure
